"A Long Walk"
These pieces are small, their dimension are the same, but their themes are juxtaposed. They go together to tell a story of duality. These pieces are completely different from my previous work because they are raw and naked, in the sense that I am using only what I have available to me. I only use my authentic internal and environmental experience. No brand-new canvases or paints have been purchased; everything has been brought together by the community. Real community made these two pieces happen, and the reason I am compelled to bring up that theme is that I truly believe no individual will continue to heal, grow, or thrive in the current and future climates unless in real community.

Myesha Ramsey, artistically known as Marz, is a Tennessee native, visual artist, and creative. Her work reflects explorations of her internal world and environmental experiences, informed by her identity as a queer person, eldest daughter, and black woman in the American South, resulting in art rooted in themes of spiritual revelation, Melanin Celebration, and Sociological liberation.
